Here is a reminder:

Have a Ball on Inaugural Night
Join Governor-Elect Steve Beshear to Celebrate Kentucky

FRANKFORT, KY (December 4, 2007) -- Governor-Elect Beshear today announced that all three Inaugural balls on December 11th are free and open to the public from 7:30p.m.-midnight. Governor-Elect Steve Beshear invites Kentuckians to join him and the other newly elected constitutional officers to celebrate Kentucky with an evening of dancing and dining at the Inaugural Balls.

"This night is for all Kentuckians -- our neighbors, friends and family --to come together to celebrate our Kentucky roots and traditions and to move together, unified in our commitment to Put Kentucky First," said Beshear.

The Capital Ball, located behind the Capitol in a 400-person capacity tent decorated in black and white, will feature the Jerry Tolson Orchestra playing big band tunes. This swing band performs the traditional sounds of such greats as Glenn Miller, Dorsey Brothers, Les Brown, Ellington, Basie and Woody Herman. Sushi, prime rib, smoked pork tenderloin and pasta will be served to guests and cash bars will be available at each Ball promoting Kentucky bourbons, wines and vodkas.

The next stop is the celebration-themed Governor's Ball in a 600-person capacity tent adjacent to the Mansion, decorated in hues of red and gold. The Trendells and The Torques will provide entertainment. The Trendells are a nationally recognized 12-member group that performs music of the sixties and seventies with a particular emphasis on Motown sounds. This band has a long Kentucky history spanning four decades and were named "Best of the Bluegrass" by the readers of the Lexington Herald Leader.

The Torques first formed in the late 1960s and enjoyed success in their hometown of Lexington; bordering states and on the Jersey Shore. The group disbanded in 1968, but resumed playing in the late 1990s and today continues to delight fans with true golden oldie tunes.

This ball will feature a variety of hors d'oeuvres such as roasted asparagus crudités, caramelized onion and potato tarts with chipotle and tomato ketchup, smoked corn and cheddar jack quesadillas, wild mushroom phyllo bundles and spicy shrimp crostinis. For desert - a white chocolate fountain with fruit and pretzels for dipping.

Finally, the newly sworn officials will visit The Kentucky Ball, located in a tent set up for 1,200 people beside the Capitol Annex. The Kentucky theme is highlighted with a generous selection of Kentucky foods and beverages such as mini hot browns, smoked paddle fish, Kentucky cheeses, and a cash Kentucky bourbon and wine bar. The decorations are equestrian in nature with horse statues and hunt club paraphernalia and pay homage to Kentucky's rich horse-racing heritage and the upcoming 2010 Equestrian Games.

Exile will provide the music for several national recording artists such as Candy Coburn, John Conlee and Halfway to Hazard. Exile formed in Richmond, Kentucky in 1963 and still records and tours after more than 40 years of success. The band toured with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars from 1965-68, had a number one pop hit with Kiss You All Over in 1978, evolved into country music in 1983 with 21 country chart hits, 10 number one country hits, and received 11 nominations for vocal or instrumental group of the year.

Parking is available at Juniper Hill Park located on US 60. Shuttles will run from 7:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. from the Juniper Hill parking lot to the Capitol. To reach Juniper Hill, take I-64 (exit 53) to US 127 North, following it to US 60. Turn right on US 60 (Louisville Road). The entrance to Juniper Hill is on the left.
