A few legislative happenings in Kentucky.

As you have noticed, I have started a new series to comment on legislation being introduced in Kentucky. I think it will be helpful to my readers to know what thier elected representatives are up to. Here are a few legislative happenings in Kentucky for today:

1) A new HPV vaccine bill has been introduced. HB 396, will "require immunization against human papillomavirus for school-age children and require parental statements to withhold consent."

This is more like it; it is not gender specific (doesn't apply to girls ONLY) and allows parents to withdraw consent. I CAN LIVE WITH THIS BILL!

2) Another bill introduced by Rep. Darryl Owens (he is doing GREAT this session) HB 488, will prohibit mortgages with prepayment penalties. Good idea.

3) Rep. Jeff Hoover redeems himself here by introducing a bill, HB 370, to change election filing deadline, etc. . (The House passed the bill yesterday. We thank Jeff Hoover for his efforts).

4) Lastly, an amendment offered by Rep. Addia Wuchner, and added to the felons restoration of rights bill that would "add that convicted felons receive a certificate of completion of a civics review course before the restoration of their voting rights," is a WISE one. The legislature should adopt Rep. Addia Wuchner's amendment, but NOT Rep. Jeff Hoover's.

That's it, folks, for now. If there is a bill you want comments on, please let me know. Thanks.
