Governor Steve Beshear Seeks Opinion Of Attorney General In Brad Cowgill COPSE Appointment Saga.

The appointment of Brad Cowgill as Council On Post Secondary Education (COPSE) Chief has Governor Steve Beshear stating "it seems obvious to me that they did not follow the law." Seeking to do something about it, and announcing that "[w]e're going to take it one step at a time," the Governor has requested an "expedited review" by the Attorney General.

Both men are Democrats, though Brad Cowgil supported Ernie Fletcher and worked as his Budget Director.

Like I stated in an earlier post, this "war" "didn't take long" to start is likely going to escalate and produce a lawsuit by the Governor's office, intended to force the Council to follow the "letter and spirit of the law", as the Governor puts it, by "conducting a national search culminating in hiring a professional educator of national reputation with experience in postsecondary education."

Stay tuned, as this one is NOT over yet.
