We have a number of important exciting developments to share with you.

MONGIARDO FUNDRAISING OVER $732,000

Thanks to the support of thousands of Kentuckians, we have raised $732,546 in this Senate race, outraising Jack Conway by $72,000 in Kentucky outside of Jack’s hometown of Louisville.

We raised $302,993 for the 2nd quarter, in addition to $429,553 raised in the first quarter.
90% of our money has been raised in-state and more than 99% has come from individuals.

While Jack Conway raised a hefty sum of money, the overwhelming majority of it was raised from his Louisville east-end neighbors and friends in New York and Los Angeles. With Daniel outraising Jack in the rest of the state, the Mongiardo campaign is poised for a strong third quarter and our long term fundraising projections are on target.

Daniel is determined to finish the job he started in 2004 against Jim Bunning or whoever is designated his relief pitcher and give Kentucky families a Senator who will fight for them.

WE’RE GAINING STRENGTH ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH

In a May poll of Democratic primary voters, Daniel holds a 20 pt lead over Jack Conway. We have support from labor unions representing thousands of working men and women throughout Kentucky.
And now we have secured commitments from political leaders in 115 of Kentucky’s 120 counties to send Dr. Dan to Washington. Next week, we will announce major staff additions to build a grassroots and political operation second to none.

DR.DAN’S STANDING UP FOR HEALTHCARE REFORM AND PROTECTING
KENTUCKY CONSUMERS AND JOBS

Daniel strongly supports President Obama’s effort to make affordable quality medical care available to every Kentuckian and American. As a practicing doctor in Eastern Kentucky, State Senator, and Lt. Governor, Daniel has fought hard for affordable healthcare for Kentucky families and it is a key reason why he is running for the Senate as he recently stated on Hazard TV. Daniel and Governor Beshear have spoken out for Kentucky families and jobs by strongly opposing the 'cap and trade' bill. The bill, which places a huge new tax on Kentucky coal, will cause electric rates to skyrocket up to 65%, cost thousands of jobs, and devastate manufacturing jobs and communities throughout Kentucky. In contrast, Daniel’s Democratic primary opponent Jack Conway has announced his support for ‘cap and trade’ and taxing Kentucky coal.

Daniel believes global warming is a real challenge we must address, but with our economy in recession and unemployment at 10.5%, placing a huge energy tax on the backs of Kentucky workers and families is not the answer. Daniel supports a comprehensive energy plan that increases use of solar, wind, hydro and other renewable resources, but also believes developing clean Kentucky coal must be a part of our energy solution.
