Galbraith/Riley Campaign Suggests "Kentucky Needs An Independent Governor" To Deal With Medicaid Fix.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
STATEMENT ON MEDICAID FUNDING FROM THE GATEWOOD/RILEY 2011 CAMPAIGN
Frankfort, Kentucky March 16, 2011 - “The past, present and future gridlock in Frankfort is continuing proof that neither party can produce a candidate or officeholder who can disengage from the partisanship long enough to work with the ‘other party’ to get the job done,” said Gatewood Galbraith in a statement issued today from his headquarters.
Kentucky needs an Independent Governor who doesn’t care who gets credit as long as they get the job done. We believe that well-intentioned legislators from both parties are as frustrated as everyone else by the current state of affairs and see the need for real change.
There is the direct correlation between the continued failing partisan process and Kentucky’s continued economic decline leaving us ranked the 4th poorest state in the nation.
This problem cannot be solved by mere “cutting and slashing” or even “borrowing” from next year’s revenue, but must be solved by creating a revenue system that offers a sound tax base combined with stringent oversight and fearless scrutiny of all expenditures.
There is an enormous amount of fraud in the Medicaid system that must be eradicated and further monies should be appropriately allotted to meet the needs of those Kentuckian’s served by the program.
A solution is within hand but will remain undiscovered as long as the shenanigans and self-promoting behaviors of political partisans are allowed to lead the process.
