The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) endorses Steve Beshear.
Mark Hebert is reporting that the State Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has endorsed the gubernatorial candidacy of Steve Beshear.
Any thoughts?
Update: This morning, I was able to confirm the FOP endorsement, and the reasons why.
The FOP, in making its endorsement, downplayed any suggested link between an in crime brought and casino gambling. The group also took issue with Fletcher's blanket pardons of his indicted employees and associates, finding "[t]hat's kind of opposite of what we stand for." According to the group's President, Martin Scott, "We investigate and present cases to court for jury determinations on guilt or innocence. This was all circumvented in this case."
The group also endorsed Jack Conway for Attorney General and Crit Luallen for Auditor (all Democrats), but declined to endorse in the other races.
Do the endorsements help, hurt or do they make no differences in the campaigns?
