Kentucky Senate joins House in passing energy bill, measure now goes to Fletcher ending special session.

The Senate has passed the new energy bill designed to lure Peabody (and others) to Kentucky, joining the House which previously passed the same. The measure now goes to Gov. Fletcher for his signature. With this bill passage, the special called session is practically over.

Update: Press release from Fletcher's office:

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR FLETCHER ON THE PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 1

"The idea of an energy incentive package began three years ago with our energy forums across the state and was part of our comprehensive energy strategy.

In addition to potentially bringing thousands of jobs and billions of dollars of investment, this Energy Bill will place Kentucky at the forefront of the national movement to develop alternative energy sources.

I want to thank members of the House and Senate who voted for the Energy Bill. I am extremely pleased."

A bill signing is being planned for next week.
