Kentucky Senate President, David Williams, Makes Good On His Promise, Sues Governor Steve Beshear Over Road Plan Veto.

We kinda figured a lawsuit was in the offing. The lawsuit is over Steve Beshear's veto of HB 79, which deals with the two year road plan approved by the legislature. The issue is whether the Governor's veto came too late, and was beyond the 10 days provided in Kentucky's constitution.

In addition, Williams suggested that a provision on line 23 of page 118 of the new budget bill, which provides that "Projects in the enacted 2006-2008 Biennial Highway Construction Plan are authorized to continue their current authorization into the 2008-2010 fiscal biennium," gives the Governor directions on how those highway funds are to be expended.

We will keep you informed as this lawsuit progress. Once the Beshear administration has filed its response, we will be happy to analyze the lawsuit. So stay tuned.
