A prominent fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama and Gov. Rod Blagojevich was convicted of fraud, money laundering and bribery Wednesday after a trial that exposed a corrupt culture of payoffs and campaign finance abuses plaguing Illinois politics.
Antoin "Tony" Rezko, 52, who according to witnesses wielded wide powers within the Blagojevich administration and now faces a stiff prison sentence, was immediately taken into custody following the verdict.
U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald told reporters the verdict represented "an antidote to the poison of corruption" that testimony alleged included the fixing of state boards that controlled a $40 billion pension fund and made major decisions about hospital construction.
Editor's comment: Not sure if this will help clean up corruption in Chicago, but I'm glad Obama disassociated himself from this SCUM and returned all his political contributions as soon as he was indicted, and we can hope the conviction helps.

Once again, a man is known by the type of people with whom he associates such as Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright,Bill "The Weatherman" Ayers and Antonin "Fat Tony" Rezko. Rezko was the go to guy for city,county and state contracts and you needed to bribe elected officials. Of course,Saint Barack knew nothing about his criminal activities!

“This isn’t the Tony Rezko I knew.”
Yes, and it seems like ALL politicians always run into "unsavory" characters -- or maybe, it's the other way around.
