Drug pushing oxycontin manufacturer fined millions.

Purdue Pharmaceuticals has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by 26 states, including Kentucky, for "engaging in extensive off-label marketing of OxyContin, a time-released, Schedule II opioid used for pain management of moderate to severe pain over an extended period of time", and for failing to "adequately disclose abuse and diversion risks associated with the drug in violation of Kentucky’s consumer protection statutes".

The total amount of the settlement is about $700 million, and Kentucky's share is about $500,000.00.

Considering the havoc Oxycontin has unleashed in Kentucky and other states, it is time the drug company was made to pay. Gatewood would love it.

Update: Rudy Giuliani is implicated as an adviser to the Oxycontin firm. It keeps getting bad for Rudy! Also, Rudy is expected to clarify his abortion position next week. As if we can't figure it out by now!!
