No "Miller Time", Henry gets more head shakes, Herb Brock "observ[es], illumninat[es] and ruminat[es]".

Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Jonathan Miller has dropped out of the race, becoming the first to do so, and has endorsed the candidacy of Steve Beshear and Dan Mongiardo, which ticket, I predict, will emerge as the front runner in a run-off for June 26th (with possibly the Lunsford/Stumbo ticket, which just received an endorsement from the Professional Fire Fighters' Union, though another ticket could surpass them). In his endorsement as reported by Joe Gertz, Jonathan Miller saw the Beshear ticket as a "nightmare for Republicans," while noting the other candidates' "too much personal baggage" that "could be picked up and exploited by the Fletcher machine."

My wife and I have voted for Miller once before (in his first run for Treasurer) and I say he lives to "fight" more effectively another day, don't you?

On Steve Henry, Joe reveals to us that, "despite what he claims on his Web site and in literature handed out by his campaign, former Lt. Gov. Steve Henry no longer practices medicine at University Hospital. ... In fact, Henry isn't practicing medicine anywhere now... ."

I am STILL shaking my head on this and other Henry matters. How about you?

Herb Brock's observations, as illuminating as they are, finds him ruminating about the Governor's race with an "unscientific poll" and a finding that "[i]n my view, these two millionaires [Harper and Lunsford] are not worth a dime as gubernatorial prospects.

Herb wonders, as I have wondered in an earlier post whether "these two businessmen see the governorship like they see any other business opportunity."

Herb continues: "While the two are not empty suits, I don't like the idea of their emptying their wallets to buy the election. ... This voter, for one, is not for sale." However, he notes: "While Lunsford and Harper are spending obscene amounts of their personal fortunes on their campaigns, the real obscenity of this election is the amount of tax money that His Incumbency is spending on his. While Lunsford and Harper are blowing their money, Fletcher is spending yours. ... Under Fletcher, business has been more usual than ever before."

Herb is NOT one to shy away from making an endorsement, and "Gatewood, [though his] "act is getting a little old, but it still is better than what most of the rest of the candidates are offering" might "still might get another vote from me".

What's your take on Herb's write up, and how accurate is his "unscientific" poll?

Why does he leave Millionare Northup out? She's given herself half a million so far. That's not chump change.

I suppose half a mil is so much more different from 3, 4, 5 mil, I guess! So spend half a mil and you're NOT bying an election, but spend 3, 4, or 5 and people worry. Frankly, though, I am more comfortable with a guy spending his own mils to run for office than I am one who sells his soul to gain the whole world of an elected office!!
