Fletcher releases funds for Wolf Creek Dam/Lake Cumberland projects.

The Governor has released funds to deal with safety issues related to the Wolf Creek Dam/Lake Cumberland flooding issues. Here's what the Governor has to say on why he is taking this action now:

"Repeated calls for emergency funding and a unanimous, bi-partisan 37-0 vote in the State Senate to appropriate $25 million for emergency needs in the Lake Cumberland area were ignored by the House of Representatives," said Governor Fletcher. "Because of the failure of the House to act, we must take this action now."

Fletcher has faced questions about whether these expenditures are lawful (recently from State treasurer, Johnathan Miller), considering that the Legislature did NOT authorize the expenditures -- a point acknowledged by Fletcher himself, but of which he has received favorable advise from his General Counsel. I will analyze this issue later, but for now you can share your opinions here.

This is obviously an attempt to embarrase Jeff Hoover and James Comer -- the Republican state reps. from those areas. Fletcher is blowing the dam issue way out of proportion in an attempt to gain politically. I'm sure the good people of Russell, Clinton, and Cumberland Counties can see through the indicted governor and his dirty tricks.
