1) "Paris Hilton could ride a bicycle in a bikini through Anbar [province] with McCain's protection."
- An NBC news reporter, on Senator McCain's well protected trip to Iraq. McCain was protected by armed soldiers, tanks and helicopters and returned to tout the safety of Iraq.

2) "Afghanistan is marked by growing unrest and instability. In the Middle East, besides some signs of hope in the dialogue between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, nothing positive comes from Iraq, torn apart by continual slaughter as the civil population flees."
- Pope Benedict, xvi, delivering his Easter Sunday sermon.

3) "This is the right to assemble, the right to free speech - they didn't have that under the former regime, this is progress, there's no two ways about it."

- Anne Northup, urging the GOP to choose her as the party's flag bearer, rather than her opponent, Gov. Fletcher, because of the merit hiring scandal.

- CBS President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves said, as quoted by the AP, on the firing of Don Imus after his Rutgers' Basketball players' racist rant.

- Kentucky Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Gatewood Galbraith, on a women's right to choose abortion, as quoted in the Lexington Herald-Leader.

13) "These comments are indicative of greater ills in our culture. It is not just Mr. Imus, and we hope that this will be and serve as a catalyst for change. Let us continue to work hard together to make this world a better place."
- Rutgers' Womens' Basketball Coach, Vivian Stringer, announcing that her team has accepted Don Imus' apology for calling the women "Nappy-headed 'hos".
