McDonald's HOAX jury awards victim $6.1 million in her $200 million lawsuit; victim allegedly turned down $20 million!

The Jury in the McDonald's' AWFUL HOAX case has awarded the victim, Louise Ogborn, $6.1 million in her $200 million lawsuit against McDonald's Corp. and others.

The Jury also found that McDonald's is responsible for half of that amount -- or about $3 million-- and the person who allegedly perpetrated the HOAX the other half.

If you have NOT been following the story, follow it here.

The victim is alleged to have TURNED DOWN a $20 million offer of settlement!

You know, I wasn't in the room and I don't know a soul on the jury. It really sounds to me that the jury didn't understand the meaning of punitive damages. Damages that are not to reward the plaintiff, but to PUNISH the defendant. Five million dollars is a drop in the bucket to Mcdonalds and is not punishment enough.

Besides, I gotta feeling that Mcdonalds attorney made a potential mistrial by stating/implying that Ogdens attorney was working with Summers attorney.

This jury used really simple math.

Amy: I hope you are doing well.

What you state may be a possible reason for the Jury's verdict. But I think McDonald's Attorney did a good job of passing the blame AWAY from McDonald's (and some will argue, to the victim).

On a side note: I would have counseled my client to accept the $20 million settlement offer -- NOTHING TO DO WITH HINDSIGHT, but EVERYTHING to do with the case facts!
