Interesting Gallup poll results.

Two recent USA TODAY/Gallup Polls were combined to analyze Americans' attitudes about electing (presidential) candidates who would break new ground. The poll looked at groups among the most likely and least likely to say they would be "completely comfortable" voting for a candidate with each characteristic of being a woman, Black, 72 years old, married 3 or more time, and a Mormon. Though the poll addressed the presidential campaign, I venture to state that I believe the poll is VERY APPLICABLE to other elections as well. Read the analysis and poll results. As a Black man, I am told to embrace 18-29 year old Liberal Democrats living in the West with annual incomes of $75,000 or more, and to avoid 65 year or older Conservative Democrats without college degrees but with annual incomes of $30,000 or less.

Does that later characteristic of persons I should avoid, in order to have a meaningful political life, NOT comprise the ENTIRE part of the world that I live in?

Interestingly enough, but perhaps maybe NOT surprisingly so, Conservative Republicans are the least likely to view women favorably, women over 50 are the least likely to view a thrice divorced candidate favorably and Blacks are the LEAST likely to view 72 year old candidates and Mormons favorably. Interesting, indeed! Interesting.
